OEE Loss Analyzer

Availability × Performance × Quality with the Six Big Losses pareto and the vital few to attack.

Estimated time: 5 minutes.

What you need

  • Planned production time (minutes)
  • Downtime by reason
  • Ideal cycle time
  • Total output units
  • Good units

How to calculate OEE and find the vital-few losses

  1. Enter planned production time. Enter the planned production time in minutes for the observation window (usually one shift).
  2. Log downtime by reason. Add every downtime event with its category (availability, performance or quality) and duration.
  3. Enter cycle and output. Enter the ideal cycle time in seconds, the total units produced and the good units.
  4. Read the A×P×Q split. Availability, Performance and Quality are calculated. Their product is OEE.
  5. Rank the Six Big Losses. Losses are sorted into a Pareto so the top two or three account for most of the gap. Attack those first, not the long tail.
  6. Export and act. Export the analysis as PDF or CSV, assign an owner and a due date to the top loss, and review it in the daily tier huddle.
